





Smith Tower
Completed in 1914, Smith Tower was Seattle’s first skyscraper and the tallest building west of the Mississippi until 1931. Financed by Lyman Cornelius Smith and designed by Gaggin & Gaggin (a New York based architectural firm), this structure has survived major earthquakes with minimal damage. Located in Seattle’s Pioneer Square, Smith Tower once housed a speakeasy, radio broadcast studio, and the original offices of King Broadcasting Company.
